The Side underwater museum was officially opened today with the last of a series of sculptures being lowered into the depths.
The site has various dioramas including ‘Whirling Dervish’, ‘War of Independence’, ‘the Temple of Poseidon’, ‘caravan of camels’ and ‘Flower Garden’.

With 110 statues and sculptures taking 3 months to place it is the first underwater museum in Turkish waters.
Located outside Side harbor the exhibit has 3 different depths, 6-11 mtr, 18 mtr and 24 mtr so all levels of divers can enjoy the sculptures.
The statues range between 1 and 6 meters in height and weighing up to 5 tonnes they were carefully positioned by a team of 20 people, crane boats and professional divers.
